Hi, my name is Gas, and my story is both common and heartbreaking. A kind rescuer found me with a broken leg and took me to the vet for surgery. Sadly, the operation was unsuccessful. The rescue that saved me couldn’t provide the medical care I desperately needed, but that’s when 2nd Chance Dogs stepped in.
They took me to their specialist, who ran a series of blood tests. That’s when they discovered I had ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, and leishmaniasis. They immediately began treatment, but despite undergoing two rounds of medication, I was still fighting for my life.
After many more blood tests and a biopsy of my bone marrow, the vets finally discovered the full truth: I have aplastic anemia. My immune system is severely compromised, and sadly, I don’t have long left in this world.
Now, I am at a caring foster home where I can spend my remaining days feeling safe, loved, and comforted — surrounded by people who truly care for me.
